Whew. It’s been a heck of a week here.
Sunday saw us loaded into the people mover to travel two hours away to an ‘entertainment centre’ to celebrate the youngest’s birthday. I put ‘entertainment centre’ in quotes, because I’m fairly certain that if you’re over the age of, say, twenty-five, it’s more like a full-on assault of your entire nervous system.
The centre offered laser tag, bowling, and an arcade. Which the Minions took to with great enthusiasm and had a blast.
However, for me and the spouse, it was a cacophony of lights, noise, and people. Almost a week later, and I’m not sure my hearing has fully returned, but my left eye has almost completely stopped twitching.
Look, I’ve made no secret of being a feral house goblin. I’m introverted to the point of becoming something of a local myth, akin to the Mothman or Sasquatch. Rumours of my existence persist, but I’m rarely seen in public.
But the birthday kid had a blast, and that’s what matters.
Two days later, we celebrated a Minion who graduates college soon.
Aaaand two days after that, we were making the two hour drive again, this time for a scheduled dental surgery. Wisdom teeth are a whole thing, and said Minion is now on a diet of smoothies, puddings, yogurts and ice cream for a bit.
Whew. It’s been more travelling in the last week than I’ve done in the past few months.
Time to rest, recharge, and then dive headfirst into what lies ahead. More family events, writing, and revisions.
I can’t wait.
